What to expect this year
The metro has run 24 hours in every recent edition: in 2022 it was announced for all nine days, and in 2019 it carried 2.2 million journeys over the festival. 2026 will very likely be the same. What is missing is the official announcement, which Metro Bilbao usually publishes in the days beforehand, and this page will carry it with the frequencies as soon as it appears.
Confirmed: Friday and Saturday nights
Metro Bilbao's summer service, in force since 1 July, includes night trains on Friday and Saturday nights. During the festival that covers three nights:
- Saturday 22 August, the night of the txupinazo.
- Friday 28 August, which is also a local public holiday in Bilbao.
- Saturday 29 August, the night of the last fireworks.
How to check on the day
The exact last-train time varies by line and station. Metro Bilbao publishes live departures under «próximos trenes» on its website and on the station displays. For a specific night, that beats any guide.
Customer offices in August
Through August only the Zazpikaleak/Casco Viejo office opens, 8:00 to 15:00 Monday to Friday. Areeta and Ansio stay closed.
