The opening takes place on Saturday 22 August from the balcony of the Teatro Arriaga. The exact start time is not yet confirmed in the sources we check, so we will not guess it from tradition or inference.
Bertsolari and journalist Onintza Enbeita Maguregi will be the pregonera, the person who delivers the opening speech. Ainhoa Urrejola Soldevilla, from the Kaixo konpartsa (one of the neighbourhood groups that run the festival), will be the txupinera: the person who fires the rocket that opens the festivities.
