The essentials

The opening takes place at 19:00 on Saturday 22 August in Plaza Arriaga: Marijaia's welcome, Onintza Enbeita's speech and the txupin fired by Ainhoa Urrejola, with a sign-language interpreter.

Bertsolari and journalist Onintza Enbeita Maguregi will be the pregonera, the person who delivers the opening speech. Ainhoa Urrejola Soldevilla, from the Kaixo konpartsa (one of the neighbourhood groups that run the festival), will be the txupinera: the person who fires the rocket that opens the festivities.
